Covenant Call was founded in response to the tragic Covenant school shooting on March 27, 2023, which claimed the lives of seven individuals: students Evelyn Dieckhaus, Hallie Scruggs, William Kinney; staff members Katherine Koonce, Cynthia Peak, Mike Hill; and Audrey Hale, the seventh victim whom police identified as the shooter. This devastating event served as a catalyst for our founders to unite and establish an organization dedicated to restoring the sacred bond between God and humanity using our gifts and abilities to help bring beauty from the ashes. (Isaiah 61:3)
Joel Bunkowske, a parent of a Covenant student who experienced the shooting, is an attorney with years of experience in the entertainment industry. Joel’s expertise in music and film brings invaluable insights and connections to our organization.
Kate Akers has dedicated her life to serving the Church. She brings years of film and music industry experience to the team and possesses a deep passion for building God’s kingdom through biblically-based media.
Ben Brown, our third co-founder, has a rich history working with Christian music at Sony Music Entertainment. His leadership in creating Christian content, particularly in the digital space, has inspired millions of fans to seek the Lord.
Together, our founders leverage their diverse skills and experiences to guide Covenant Call in restoring the divine bond and transforming lives through faith, compassion, and spiritual growth.
